Fusion Student Delegation
Co-founder, Vice President (2024), President (2025), Washington, DC
Technical results only matter if the people making funding and regulatory decisions hear about them. In 2023 I co-founded the Fusion Student Delegation (FuSD), a national student delegation connecting early-career fusion researchers with policymakers in Washington. I served as its first Vice President in 2024 and as President in 2025.
As part of the leadership team, I organized the itinerary for the delegation, including meetings with DOE Fusion Energy Sciences Director J.P. Allain and Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chairman Chris Hansen. I also led recruitment for the national program in 2025, drawing approximately 60 applicants for 10 slots.
The delegation was presented as a workforce and policy engagement model at the IAEA Technical Meeting on Developing the Fusion Workforce (April 2026): The Fusion Student Delegation: A Student-Led Model for Fusion Workforce and Policy Engagement in the United States.
The delegation is on to its fourth cycle, now running without me or any of the original founders. I am proud to see the sustained success and impact of this program.

For the MIT IAP course Business of Fusion Energy, I gave a session on the fusion policy landscape and how students can get involved in it, which I believe is one of the best ways young people can help enable a fusion-powered future.
